1.2 Tbps transmissions on a live network
Turkcell and ZTE have achieved a world-first live test of 1.2 Tbps single wavelength transmission utilizing 800GE + 400GE client interfaces simultaneously
ZTE Corporation and Turkcell, together, successfully completed the world’s first live test of 1.2 terabits per second (Tbps) single wavelength transmission utilizing an 800 Gigabit Ethernet (GE) client interface on Turkcell’s commercial network in Bursa, Turkey.
This significant achievement demonstrates the readiness of Optical Transport Network (OTN) equipment to support the industry’s highest client interface rate – 800GE – in a live network environment. It underscores the leadership positions of both ZTE and Turkcell in optical network technology and paves the way for future advancements in this critical field.
Responding to Growing Network Demands
Turkcell, a forerunner in European optical network infrastructure, is committed to continuous network innovation to meet the ever-increasing demands for bandwidth in the digital age. The rise of cloud computing, big data, and artificial intelligence (AI) has propelled Tbit OTN solutions to the forefront of next-generation optical communication technologies.
Unveiling a High-Capacity Solution
Through this collaboration, Turkcell and ZTE successfully tested the viability of ultra-high-speed OTN transmission using a 400GE + 800GE client board and a 1.2 Tbps line board in Bursa. The test equipment provided the flexibility to accommodate diverse scenarios with 2*400GE and 800GE client interfaces.
Superior Performance and Scalability
Compared to traditional 400G solutions, the 1.2 Tbps solution delivers significantly higher bandwidth and transmission rates, leading to a substantial boost in system capacity. This advancement directly addresses Turkcell’s growing bandwidth requirements for future 5G service development. Additionally, the solution facilitates a seamless migration path to 1.6 Tbps, ensuring the network’s long-term evolution.
ZTE’s Commitment to Innovation
ZTE is unwavering in its commitment to research and development (R&D) of next-generation Tbit OTN solutions. By providing robust technical support for the large-scale commercial deployment of these solutions by global operators, ZTE aims to significantly accelerate the development of ultra-wide digital optical networks and contribute to the continued prosperity of the industry.
