Dear Pegasus Airlines Passengers, Your Large Language Model Speaking
Pegasus Airlines, in a pioneering move, has introduced in-flight announcements using a cloned real captain’s voice, tailored to passengers’ native languages—a first in the world.
As part of its mission to become “Turkey’s digital airline,” Pegasus Airlines now follows English announcements with language-specific announcements delivered in the voice of an AI-generated, cloned real captain. This practice has been initiated on flights to countries where Spanish, Arabic, and Russian are spoken. The project was first implemented on the Sevilla route starting September 24, where passengers were greeted with “Welcome” in Spanish using the voice of a cloned captain, along with information about the new route.
The application is set to be fully operational across all relevant flights by the end of October.
Developed at the Silicon Valley-based Pegasus Innovation Lab, which aims to lead technological advancements and innovations in the aviation industry, this system involves cloning the voices of both male and female Pegasus captains. It enables dynamic announcements in the respective languages, including flight details, weather updates, destination information, captain’s name, and flight duration.
By addressing passengers in their own languages, Pegasus offers a personalized and innovative flight experience.
