Orange to bid for Turkish UMTS licence

According to reports from Bloomberg, France Telecom (FT) is considering entering the bidding in next week’s 3G mobile network auction in Turkey. In a press interview, the head of Turkey’s Telecommunications Board Tayfun Acarer said FT’s mobile arm Orange is one of four firms to have applied for tender documents for the auction, due to start on 7 September. The French incumbent has declined to comment.
