Profit falls at Turkcell

Turkcell has posted a TRY86.8 million (USD60 million) net profit for the second quarter of 2006, down from TRY187.2 million last year, with the fall attributed to higher income tax expenses. Revenues climbed 3% year-on-year to TRY1.15 billion, with monthly ARPU levels falling from TRY14.7 to TRY12.5. Turkcell had 29.8 million domestic subscribers at the end of June, with a further 5.8 million proportionate customers across its operations in Ukraine, Cyprus and central Asia.
