Gartner, Inc. has announced the keynote lineup for its flagship annual conference for CIOs and senior IT executives, Gartner Symposium/ITxpo on the Gold Coast, Australia.
Held over four days at the Gold Coast Convention Centre, this year’s conference features several luminary keynote speakers focused on innovation and bold new thinking, to help delegates rise to the challenge of digital disruption that is facing every organization in every industry.
1) Steve Wozniak, Co-Founder of Apple Inc. and Chief Scientist, Fusion-io
In a mastermind interview with Gartner vice president and distinguished analyst David Willis, Wozniak will talk about culture and innovation. He will discuss the big disruptive trends that excite him and his view on the technologies that are shaping digital business to help steer future strategy.
A Silicon Valley icon and philanthropist for more than 30 years, Wozniak has helped shape the computing industry. In 1976, Wozniak and Steve Jobs founded Apple Computer Inc. with Wozniak’s Apple I personal computer. The following year, he introduced his Apple II personal computer, featuring a central processing unit, a keyboard, color graphics, and a floppy disk drive. The Apple II was integral in launching the personal computer industry. In 2000, he was inducted into the Inventors Hall of Fame and was awarded the prestigious Heinz Award for Technology.
Wozniak currently serves as Chief Scientist for Fusion-io and is a published author with the release of his New York Times bestselling autobiography, ‘iWoz: From Computer Geek to Cult Icon’.
2) Sir Ray Avery, Scientist, Author, Entrepreneur, Philanthropist and Start-up Investor
Sir Ray will demonstrate how to develop personal innovation skills and how to implement corporate disruptive innovation cultures. Sir Ray is a charismatic entertaining speaker and entrepreneur who will demonstrate the power of observation and customer centric product development cycles which underpin standout IT development companies.
A former street kid, Sir Ray went on to become an internationally recognized scientist and entrepreneur. Working throughout Africa and Asia and exposed to the real shortcomings in healthcare, Sir Ray was determined to use his knowledge to tackle big health issues endemic throughout the developing world at a practical level. In 2003, Sir Ray founded Medicine Mondiale and enlisted the help of other scientists and social entrepreneurs. He invented the Acuset IV Flow Controller, a finalist in the 2008 Saatchi & Saatchi World Changing Ideas Award; Proteinforte, a revolutionary treatment for Protein Energy Malnutrition; and the low cost Lifepod infant incubator designed for use in the developing world. He has received numerous awards including a Rotary Paul Harris Medal, the Bayer Research and Development Innovator Award 2008, World Class New Zealand Award for Biotechnology 2009 and Kiwi Bank New Zealander of the year 2010. Sir Ray is also the Patron of the Non Resident Nepali Association of New Zealand, a position previously held by Sir Edmond Hilary.
In January 2011, Avery was appointed a Knight Grand Companion of the New Zealand order of Merit which is the highest order of the New Zealand Knighthood honors.
3) Dr. Stefan Hajkowicz, Futures Researcher, Megatrends, CSIRO
