
Strong quarter for Turkcell
Turkey’s largest mobile operator Turkcell has seen its first-quarter profits more than double on the back of strong subscriber growth. The firm reported net earnings of USD187.2 million in the three months to the end of March, up 117% from USD86.1 million in the same period last year. Revenues were up 5% to USD1.13 billion. Turkcell added 843,000 net new customers in the quarter, taking its total user base to 28.7 million and giving it a 63% share of the Turkish mobile market, where it competes with Telsim and Avea.
