Turk Telekom clocks 2.9Gbps on live 5G test network with Huawei

Turk Telekom (TT) has recorded a peak data speed of above 2.9Gbps on a live 5G test network in cooperation with Huawei, using 5G New Radio (NR) Carrier Aggregation (CA) with two 100MHz bandwidth carriers at 3.5GHz (C-Band) frequency. The Huawei Mate 20 X 5G smartphone was used with a TT SIM card. TT’s Yusuf K raç said: ‘We have achieved unprecedented speeds in the world by successfully implementing 5G NR CA technology, which is an important technology to be used in 5G in the coming years … With our strong fibre infrastructure, we are the readiest operator for 5G [in Turkey]. Nearly 50% of our 4.5G base stations are fibre-connected. We are maintaining our investments to focus on the technological and digital transformation of Turkey and expand out 5G and supportive fibre infrastructure across the country.’
