17 Apr 2007

The Turkish government has launched a tender for four 3G licences, with sealed bids to be submitted by 24 May. Successful applicants will then qualify for a second round of verbal bidding, Reuters reports. The minimum prices for the concessions range from EUR140 million (USD189 million) to EUR252 million (USD340 million), depending on the spectrum offered. The Turkish mobile market is currently home to three operators, Turkcell, Vodafone-Telsim and Avea, which served more than 52.2 million customers between them at the end of December.
