Turkey’s interconnection rates lowered
Turkish regulator, Information and Communication Technologies Authority (ICTA), has lowered interconnection rates for both fixed line and wireless operators. The new rates will take effect on 1 May 2009. Wireline incumbent Turk Telekom will now charge a maximum of TRY0.0139 (USD0.008) per minute to connect local calls, TRY0.0171 per minute for ‘On-Net’ calls and TRY0.027 per minute for ‘Off-Net’ connections. Meanwhile, the largest wireless operator by subscribers Turkcell, will charge TRY0.0655 per minute for mobile calls, down from the previous rate of TRY0.091. Avea, will connect mobile calls at a rate of TRY0.0775 per minute and Vodafone Turkey will charge TRY0.0675 per minute. All rates quoted exclude VAT.
