TURKSAT poised to sign two new satellite contracts

Turkish satellite telecommunications company TURKSAT is close to signing contracts with two as yet unnamed vendors for the supply of two new satellites. ANTARA News reports that the company has invited international bidders to tender for the production of the TURKSAT 4A and 4B satellites, and that as a result, three companies from Asia, America and Europe submitted bids. The firm’s general director Ozkan Dalbay is quoted as saying that TURKSAT hopes to sign a contract with the winning bidder in June. The new satellites are estimated to be completed in 26 months and launched to space in the last quarter of 2012, he added.
